This is a quick guide to install Google Pinyin in order to input chinese characters, provided by Miles Odonnol.

http://tools.google.com/pinyin/ (click blue button to download)

Run GooglePinyinInstaller.exe

Check: "I accept the terms in the License Agreement"

Hit "Next"
-
Choose (or accept) install location; hit "Next".

Hit "Finish"

Reebot (?) [Anyway, I did])

Control Panel: Regional and Language Options >> Languages >> Details >> Add >> Chinese (PRC)
[Or, if you already have Chinese (PRC) AND, say, Chinese (Taiwan) REMOVE Chinese (Taiwan)] >> hit "OK" >> hit "Apply"

Click the Language Bar, click EN English (United States) [Or whatever your native system]

Select CH Chinese (PRC), see the following:

Click on Chinese (Simplified) - Microsoft Pinyin IME x.x

Select
. Now you should see the additional Google IME bar:
, and you should be good to go for simplified characters.

If you want to do Traditional Charactes, click the setup gears at the right of the Google IME icon:

When the menu pops up, click the toggle option near the middle that says 切换为繁体模式:

Now yer good to go with trad characters. To get back to simp chars, click same thing; it's a toggle.
